Generally the lower the amount of LED chips per metre on a given Strip the deeper we will need our profile to be in order to achieve a LINEAR effect. See below examples which illustrate when dotting will occur and how this can be resolved.

How dotting happens

Dotting happens when there is a combination of a low amount of LED chips per metre and a shallow profile. This produces a typically undesirable dotted lighting effect.

metre in a PRO1 profile, with a profile
depth of 7mm.

Achieving the LINEAR effect

The combination of a high amount of LED chips per metre and still with a shallow profile has produced a typically desirable linear lighting effect.

Linear Example
The combination of a low amount of LED chips per metre but with a deeper profile has also produced a typically desirable linear lighting effect.

Guiding you to a LINEAR Effect

On each LED Strip & Aluminium Profile product page you will find information listed to help guide you in pairing the right products together to achieve a LINEAR Finish.

Example

For this particular strip a Aluminium profile with a depth of 14mm or deeper will provide the desired linear lighting effect.

Example

For this particular Aluminium profile a LED
strip with 196 LEDs per metre or more will
provide the desired linear lighting effect.
